And so she did. She might have escaped eventually, being part deer and quite nimble. She might still be running to this day. She could have been captured, and killed. But for now, my friends, that is all that is known.

She landed on the ground with a gravelly thump. Her fall had seemed to attract the attention of many bystanders. Wondering why so many people were staring, Aerin finally realized; with the force of the fall, her hood had fallen off her head, exposing her antlers. She had one thought: Run.

Pulling some coins from her leather knapsack, she bought enough bread to sustain her and her family for a couple of weeks. Aerin longed to be back in the Forest, where she wouldn't be hunted if she removed her hood. Luckily, she probably wouldn't have to come back here anytime soon. Winter was ending, and she would be able to plant her own crops soon enough. Suddenly, Aerin, tripped over a loose brick in the path. Falling, for a split second she was suspended in air.
