I agree with these books, I've read WoF, Kane, Going Wild. Percy Jackson is by the same author who wrote the Kane Chronicles, except it's Greek instead of Egyptian, and it's really good.

Shadow Magic series is really good, and there's a book called 'Ember and the Ice Dragons' I'm currently reading that is /fabulous./

I don't read a whole ton, I mostly watch anime, but if you can get your hands on some mangas (Pokemon's a good child-friendly one xD), you can dive into the Japanese weeb world x3
