Sorry about the short chapter, I just had a very busy week this week, and had almost no time to write.
Rob sighed. 'Unfortunately, I think I do. I just hope that I am wrong.'
Sky looked at him again. 'Rob, who sent it?'
Rob looked at her. 'An old enemy of mine. His name is Syndicus. But he calls himself... The Harbinger.'
The corner of Rob's mouth went up. Yeah, I'm fine. It's just a love bite.'
Sky smirked. Then, getting more serious, she asked, 'Why did you do that, Rob? Why did you jump in front of that thing?'
Rob looked at her in the eyes. 'I couldn't let it hurt you, now, could I?'
Sky blushed, looking away. *He has beautiful eyes.* 'Well, thanks.'
'No problem, Sky,' he said, looking away as well.
'So...'
'So...'
The creature chuckled as Rob's fist went through its face. 'You have no choice, Simeon. You failed to protect the ones you loved once. You will fail again.' The creature's laugh ec***d as it formed into shadows, disappearing.
*Well that sounded ominous,' Sky thought as she put away her katanas.
Rob pressed a button on his wrist, causing his armor to come off. His arm was bleeding from the bite.
The creature looked at her and laughed. 'Trying to read my mind?'
Sky stepped back in shock. 'Wha-... How did you...'
'Well, you can't,' the creature said. 'I have mental blocks.'
The creature pulled the katana from its wing and stood up. Instead of blood flowing from the wound, it was pure darkness. 'You put up a valiant fight, heroes. But it doesn't matter. Where I failed, my master will not.'
The creature chuckled. 'Oh, Rob. You know who sent me.'
'Who?' Rob asked. 'Tell me, or I'll-'
'HE sent me,' the creature said.
Rob dropped his fist. 'It... no, not... it can't be.'
Sky asked, 'Rob, who is it talking about?' But Rob didn't answer.
*Whoa,* Sky thought. *That was... kinda cool.*
Sky threw her katana at the creature's wing. Dazed, the creature could not phase through the blade. It howled in pain as the katana embedded itself in the creature's wing, pinning it to the wall.
The shadow creature landed between them, its claws scraping the bar, tearing it to shreds.
Sky swung her katanas at the creature's neck, but they just passed through the neck.
The creature turned its head at Sky and lunged at her, its teeth bared.
'No!' Rob yelled, jumping between the creature and Sky. The creature bit into Rob's arm, causing him to yell in pain.
