Comparing myself with other skinners, theres something that makes a startling difference between them:
Im terrible at shading.

I would really appreciate it if you guys could be kind enough to give me a hand!

Hopefully youll see an improvement in my skins when I start posting again (probably tomorrow). Let me know if you do. Thank you!!
Glad i could be useful C3 don't be afraid to ask me about skinning! though, i'd still call myself average in skinning so don't expect me to know everything!

Okay, so I recommend checking out others' skins. Find your favorite and click the ''edit skin'' button. Trace over their shading and learn how they did it. There are some rules/tips for making the shading not look so weird. (These are mainly for more realistic shading.) When you're shading the hair remember it is falling down. Don't do some random patterns. Now, the shirt. The folds are going sideways instead of down. (Though there are some cases where it falls down but in general it doesn't)
Also, in my opinion colors are more important than shading because you can learn how to shade really quick as its just a pattern. Colors take quite some time to master. Most people rather to go for unsaturated dull tones but there are some that master really saturated colorful tones which In my opinion look more interesting. Though, its quite hard to adapt to them..
I see your point.
Something basic that looks okay, I guess.
