Darker Shadows Chapter One

I am unnerved by the evil grin on Venus' little face. "Sah dude." I say in ways of yes. Feeling a new sense of confidence, I take the lead. I grab my trusty history book as we creep to the door of the cleaning room. I prepare my throwing arm just in case. Slow and steady I ducked round the door, all sneaky like. A gasp escapes me as I see a little hunched figure in the middle of the room. It could be the little old lady from down the road. I see her walking to and from church every Sunday! What a flipping babe. As much as she is a good citizen, I seriously doubt it is her stood in the center of the cleaning room.

I look up in shock as Freya makes a quick run for it inside the school. I sprint after her, waving a awkward hello at our group of friends. As I head inside I see Freya at her locker. I sneak up behind her and grab her shoulder, jumping the poor lil lassie. I laugh heartidly at her shocked look on her mush. "You shouldn't just sprint off like that. Running after you like totally ruined my reputation you know." I say with a playful frown. Then I hear some loud noises coming from the cleaning room. My eyes widen and I look at Freya. She had the same expresssion printed on her face. "Shall we investigate?" I ask with a evil grin.

I nod my head quickly. My cheeks filling with heat at the embarrassment. "Uh, yes. I'm totally fine. I was just thinking about todays test. I couldn't study properly last night because Amy was blasting her dastardly pop music with all the windows and doors open. I scribbled some notes onto my arms, but I think the rain may of made the ink run." I pull my right sleeve up and see that it is still intact. Of course! My rain coat is the very best quality. My mother did say it would come in handy one day. I look up at the sky and nod my head thankfully. I turn my head to look back at Venus. "Justin is starting at our school eh? Maybe you should abandon our social group and devote all your time and sympathy to him..." I say with a smirk. I turn my eyes forward as we enter through the school gates. I feel a drop of rain land on the tip of my nose and sprint for the main doors of the school, ignoring the glares I get from my peers. Not all of us keep our hoods up 24/7. When I get inside I take off my backpack and hastily tie my damp hair back into a messy pony tail.

Freya's POV

I blush wildly at Freyas remark. "What.. well I didnt bump into him, he came over to me. Apparently he's joining at our school soon..." I say and then I feel a rush of pity for him. His family wasnt very well off so It must of been hard for him to pay the bill for school. "I probably should be nicer to him. Hmmmhmhhmhm." We wander down Freyas road and then we come out onto the main road that leads up to school. The sun soon got lost behind dark grey clouds which were splatted across the sky like some crazy artist had dripped grey paint everywhere. "I do believe it is going to rain again..." I comment to fill up the silence. I glance at Freya who had been very quiet for the last couple of minutes. "Are you okay?" I ask concerned for her.

Venus' POV

"Yes. We don't want to be late for school." I say, spitting some of my blonde hair our of my mouth, but it just blows back at me. Darn this unholy wind! I link with Venus as we walk across the lawn away from my house. "Did you bump into Justin on the way to my house? Is that why you are so late?" I ask her, a sly smile on my face.

Freya's POV

I walk quickly away from Justin, my mind set on going to Freyas house. Sometimes we swapped so Freya went to my house and we walked to school that way. The rain soon stopped and the sun shone over the white puffy clouds. So I pulled down my hood and flattened my hair for my own personal goals. I soon arrived on Freya's street and then Freya's house. I wave madly as my eyes come in contact with Freya, She perched on her swing seat on her porch. "Freyaaaa! Sorry I'm late! I ran into Justin again." I say, a slight blush forming on my cheeks. I shuffle over to Freya's porch and drag her up. The wind blew wildly, my hair flowing around my face, I could barely see Freya's face. I hold back my hair, annoyed. "The wind is bad. We better pick up the pace." I say, looking around warily.

Venus' POV
