Giving tithes and offerings to God is a good thing, but if we only do it for approval of others or even brag about how much we give, that defeats the purpose. Giving back to God after all he has provided for us should be a joy. To us, the widow gave what would be like two pennies. It didn't matter to her how much it was, what mattered was that she still wanted to give to God despite being extremely poor. I'm sure that with love like that, she would've eventually been greatly rewarded by God.
