So I was great and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem. Also my wisdom remained with me. Throughout the book of Ecclesiastes, Solomon (David's son) tries to find pleasure in earthly possessions like riches, livestock, servants, and women. In the end, he declared that it was all vanity, which means "emptiness." We, as Christians, should strive to please God and store up heavenly treasures.
