Luis Mercuizo is a researcher in Thomas Smithton's Redstone Research company called Smith Industries. He has helped research and design some Redstone items in the modern age, and is well known for his work on the Guide for Redstone, a fairly well known book for city builders and such.

Luis primarily has been researching he Ancient/Old Builder Society, searching for Old Ruins or anything he can find. The modern (albeit rare) computers of the world were engineered from Old Builder Society trinkets, as well as the Redstone Crafter machine. There is very little known of Old Builder Society culture or language, though it is theorized they had a culture valuing Individuality, freedom, and above all, architecture.

The Old Builders did earn their name, some of their ruins still function perfectly as they had the many thousands of years ago that they were created. Old Builder construction primarily consists of pure stone or stone bricks, as well as concrete or metal. Old Builder architecture is very specific, often consisting of simple lines and angles.

Though it is far less complicated than the Gothic architecture of Gothica, it is still highly regarded due to its rugged simplicity.
