Chapter two coming out now because I feel like it and don't want to go to sleep yet even though it's literally five past nine lamow
This is CHAPTER TWO of my custom story: "Distant Wars"!
This story is of two lovers who were separated by war. Short, yet heartbreaking. Their town, Syrrenia was fought over by two opposing sides - Osarlyum and Milington - of which it was divided, both kingdoms being given exactly fifty percent of the town each. Our main characters - Kai and Rosaline - were forced to be separated because of this division, and consequently, had to go face-to-face in battle.
The story will be in the comments, sort them by oldest.
Enjoy :D

"I somewhat don't entirely believe that, Jack."
"'Tis true! Ask him!"
"Isn't he in Milington, though?"
Jack gasped. "Poor John." He whispered.
"How comes you get to sleep in a castle free of charge, whilst I have to stay in some family of seven's crummy cramped house?" Jack asked me one day.
"I'm not sure," I responded, "maybe they still want something to do with me for my prowess?"
"You best hope so, otherwise I'm going to throw a riot alongside the other Syrrenians here!"
"I'm not sure if that's such a good idea, Jack."
"You're right, I won't, but only to keep your reputation up. They say the friends you make can drastically affect it!"
"Really?"
"Oh, yeah! Happened to my cousin! He was entitled to some high ranking...
"I know, son. Don't worry."
As the team exited the room without word, Dr Stephenson inhaled and said: "if I were them, I'd be pretty disappointed, kid."
I twiddled my thumbs, trying to ignore his words.
"I'd reconsider, at least think about it while your leg is getting better."
That weekend, we were being migrated to Osarlyum, as Lady Eliza had threatened Lord Ghrelyn with an invasion if the remaining Syrrenians were not dealt with by the following week.
It was a very chaotic couple of days, but Jack and I were able push through the mess, and were actually two of the first people from Syrrenia to arrive, which was a huge bonus, as we were greeted with cakes and breads - even a place in the inn! - until I was informed that I would be accommodated within the castle, ...
"Oh." She said, disappointed.
"It's nothing against your offer, besides you said many good things about me and how talented I was, but I've had experiences I wouldn't like to experience again."
"I see." She said, looking down at her feet, "I'm not going to force you, but all I'm saying it we could really use your help."
Guilt began to riddle inside me. Part of me wanted to say yes, and fight with Osarlyum, but my conscience knew best, and my conscience knew I had to say no.
"I'm sorry, Commander," I plead, "but I just cannot fight in any oncoming wars."
"That's quite alright, Kai." She nodded, then went to stand behind Lord Ghelyn.
"We're sad to see you be so defiant of the offer, Kai." He said.
"Lord Ghrelyn, it's not you, you...
Jack nudged me by the shoulder, and grinned at me. "I think this would be a great opportunity for you, Kai." He said.
I looked down to think for a moment. What Command Pyker said was great and all, but I wouldn't want to risk my life in battle again. Besides, I was already told by the Syrrenian commander that it would be best if I were to stay away from participating in anymore battles, since what happened after it was over and won, I kept having terrible flashbacks that were beginning to really affect me in the real world. I looked up at the commander, and said: "I'd love to seize this opportunity, Commander, but I just...
"Kai - if I do have the permission to refer to you by your first name?"
"Permission granted."
"Wonderful," Commander Pyker smiled, "I have admired your work ever since you joined Syrrenia's army."
I nodded.
"Though you have only fought recently in one battle, five years ago, many people have nominated you as at least the top ten swordsmen in the town - maybe even the nation! You have never experienced any major injuries from war, aside from of course the occasional scratch, and you have a tremendous kill record!"
"And yet, he can fall over and get himself impaled by a stick." Dr Stephenson chuckled to himself.
I looked over at him and scowled. Commander Pyker just rolled her eyes and resumed talking. "And since we may have to migrate you Syrrenians to within Osarlyum walls...
