2 hours pass by. It’s 7:30 pm.

Another 2 hours. It’s 9:30, aka my bedtime. Time to “go to sleep.”

Another 4 hours and I’m very tired. My mom still hasn't gone to bed. Oh, it’s 1:30 at night.

30 more minutes went by. My mom is finally asleep. In those 30 minutes, I fell asleep for 7 of them. It is time.

I turn off the alarm with the code. I exit the house. I ran away from home. Success.

“Mystery.”

After triple checking the area, definitely no one was around watching. I ducked under the tree. I got scratched a lot from the pine needles, but I didn’t care, I just wanted to see the present. When I got a hold of it, I wanted to see who it was supposed to go to. After I read it, I figured out it was going to be mine!

“Yay!” I cried out. I realized George could have heard me. I quickly stuffed the present back to where it belonged. I ran to my room as if nothing happened. Soon my mom came back into our house. I jumped up with excitement when I heard the garage’s beeps. I knew she was back. I ran straight to her and asked what that present was. She said one word.

A week has passed since Christmas. After I investigated the Christmas tree, I saw one more present hidden in the back. It said, “from Grandpa and Grandma.” What? Was Kelly, my mom, hiding something from me? I’m going to investigate more.

I double checked to make sure no one was watching. Kelly was at the store. My brother, George, who is 13, also wasn’t watching. He was upstairs playing his “fun” game. It was this weird looking video game called Fortnite. It looked really boring to me. George says it is addicting.
