"After walking around the edge of the lava lake for several more hours with Simmersong, I was able to learn quite alot about this dimension and it's inhabitants thanks to her helpful knowledge. I was quite surprised to learn the citizens of the village I have been pursuing are actually a sentient race of mushroom entities, that call themselves the 'Mycelians'. At last! I finally know what to expect upon arrival."

"The settlement is of similar size to overworld villages and has a quite imposing atmosphere, with large jagged strips of charcoal metal jutting out from the outer walls and the buildings being made of local materials. But before we were able to enter, we first had to state our business with the guards. These intimidating entities refer to themselves as Glintglaives, and are adorned in expertly crafted quartzcloth, blackstone and 'netherite' armour, with a very spikey aesthetic. Their weapon of choice is an exquisite polearm fashioned from blaze rods, quartz and other materials local to the area."

"After waiting outside for almost an hour, the gates eventually opened, and we finally entered the bustling foreign settlement I have been searching for over the last week."

I’m confused on what the face is supposed to look like-
I still like it- just asking
The turquoise blue part behind the mask and onto the torso is one huge eye. They don't have a mouth, they absorb food, I will elaborate on how they communicate and such soon

I presume the Glaive is a reference to the weapons used?
Correct, most of the dangerous entities in this period are melee oriented. A lance/glaive gives the upper hand against things like a Rustrotter, while the quartz nullifies it's corrosive abilities
Glint - shimmering, sparkling, glittery, in reference to the quartz covering most of the gaps between their armour.

Glaive - a type of polearm weapon with a single-sided blade at the end of a staff, quite similar to a Japanese naginata

You always put in so much detail, in your skins as well as the stories/notes.
I love the aesthetic you present for the guards and the village in general, descriptions of "large jagged strips of charcoal metal jutting out from the outer walls" and the Glintglaives being "adorned in expertly crafted quartzcloth, blackstone and 'netherite' armour" really brings your world to life.

Like, quartzcloth? I want that in the game now.
Thank you very much, feedback like this is what makes doing this truly worthwhile for me! I settled on this kind of look back on the Flamefletcher (yep, they are Mycelian scouts), with the mask that had all the spikey parts coming off it, and have been toying with a few designs over the last couple of months. Glad it came together well, I think I need to improve on the quartz texture though

In my head, the Mycelians are race that have perfected the art of well, art. They are driven by aesthetic and respect for the landscape, and have a full set of professions among their species just like overworld villagers do.

To that end, the armour mainly consists of in-game textures like raw quartz and blackstone. It's very convenient, since the competition this is for has the theme of "black and white"
Glad you like it, 0.5_WIP_CTS was a test to see what the outer layer looked like without the annoying editor filter in the way. It was deleted about 20 minutes after initially uploading
