"Much like the Ghasts, these creatures rely on volcanic mineral extraction for sustenance, of which there is a seemingly endless supply in the vast lava lakes they are native too. Using volatile chemical reactions, they are able to produce jets of flame that enable them to hover effortlessly above the ground for short periods of time when disturbed. If this wasn't astonishing enough, they appear to use magnetic minerals from whatever they scoop out of lava to surround themselves in a whirlwind of molten metal, some of which they will hurl at any assailant bold or stupid enough to aggravate them."

"Such complex internal biology crammed into such a small creature however, makes them very fragile. A single arrow or 2 is usually enough to take them out, and the molten rods they produce can then be harvested and made into tool handles or other useful items."
