"Of the many bizarre lifeforms I've observed in the nether, one in particular never fails to impress me. Known by the villager explorers as "Ghasts", and allegedly lost souls sentenced to eternally wander through this place, much like the Soulsearcher I've found a much more rational explanation for these creatures."

"Despite their unusual appearance, these animals are crucial to the cycle of the nether ecosystem. These floating squid-like creatures spend most of their time hovering above ground. While there are few if any flowing water sources in the nether, there is indeed water here in the form of evaporated steam, which rises and condenses in the upper regions these animals frequent, that they absorb to stay hydrated. For sustenance, they briefly submerge their tentacles in lava and filter out certain minerals. They can then expell excess elements in an explosive charge at beings they consider a threat."

"Using the absorbed water vapour to filter out collected minerals, they then drop them back on the ground with their tears, which go on to fertilize the numerous species of fungus that animals in this world depend on. No matter how bizarre, everything has a place here."

Answer: Their odd moans are sonar
im so late lmao

the pixelart and lore be epic as hec
Mxnarch, just some info, ghasts are undead, and are not robots, unless im wrong, and get this lore from the acheivment, uneasy alliance: Rescue a Ghast from the Nether, bring it safely home to the Overworld... and then kill it. important key words are, Rescue and home, that means the ghast was never part of the nether to begin with, so i wonder what you think of that
One pixel is missing

(I just ruined your day didn't i?)
Yea I know lol, it has already bothered me so much, jusy didn't think it was worth re-uploading it. This is what I get for trying out pixel art on my phone instead of using my PC like I normally do

I didn't have enough room to touch on it, but I'd imagine they'd use a combination of hot air and gasses emitted by lava to give themselves lift. Their copious amounts of tears are a method of protecting their eyes against such things when feeding

Blazes are next! While there are many cool ideas for the nether it can be tricky to fit all of them onto a player model in a way that looks convincing. That's where these little explorer note logs come in, I really enjoyed making this one
