"The basalt delta had one last surprise for me at it's end, which was the entity I have illustrated here. I have named them Skinscorchers for good reason, as these beings take the term 'hot headed' to a very literal level."

"These creatures remind me in many ways of the underground race I have been studying, and were a good reminder of the very reason I've come to this hellish world in the first place. Much like the city guardian entities, Skinscorchers make use of a core embedded in their chest to produce absurd levels of heat, which glows molten hot at various points throughout their body. Their clawed feet for instance are so hot that, when excited, their footprints melt into basalt as they walk."

"Unfortunately for any prey item they can get a hold of, a single scratch or bite to their body will start burning away their skin like a page in a campfire, an event I had the great displeasure of witnessing after an unlucky hoglin was ambushed as I tried sneaking past it. It's a miracle any prey animal can survive in this place, and any race that is able to develop to the point of building villages here must be quite formidable in their own way."
