"Leaving behind the green and blue of home, the village portal exits into a small stone brick building, accentuated with scarlet and cyan materials I've never seen before. After showing the 2 guards the pass I was given, I've begun my way along the rough map I was given by the trader, allegedly leading to the settlement that hopefully can help me turn this warpmetal into something useful."

"It didn't take long for me to encounter my first entity from this gloomy place. These uncommon reptilian creatures can be found wandering the open expanses of empty 'netherack' fields, although they aren't afraid to venture into surrounding biomes. From my brief observations, they use reddish spikes and aposematic colouration in the form of an intimidatingly large face pattern to both deter mobs from attacking them, and confuse their favourite prey, which I'm told are pig-like creatures named 'hoglins'. I can only assume the bright orange glow of their jaws betrays an incredible amount of heat, although I don't plan on staying in one's territory long enough to find out. This entire place give me creeps, and I can't tell if I or my ink will evaporate first in the heat."

I didn't see the first version of the base, but the latest 2 look fairly different to me. I went out of my way to make this one look very different from anything else I've made so far so it should be different from our usual stuff.

The goal of my story has been to try and practice textures that feel completely original, not based upon anybody else's designs other than roughly on mojang's sculk aesthetic. While I understand this is a public platform with no ownership rights on things like art style and concepts, the more/closer that those things are mimicked by people, the harder it becomes for the initial designer of them to continue making original skins that feel unique. This is a big reason why I've switched to nether stuff for the moment, my sculk aesthetic now feels overused
Glad you enjoy it and the rest. I'm considering making a mod for most of these and more in the future, I'm excited to finish the rest of the nether stuff when I get the time
I kid you not, 2 or so days were spent nearly entirely on the mouth, I don't have as much time to sit down and power through texturing for hours so Ive just been working on this one on and off for a while in little pieces. Things will probably continue like that for a while.

Aposematic colouration is a concept I've always thought would be interesting to try on a skin, and I figure what could be a more terrifying pattern than a giant screaming face
a giant screaming face with british dental care
First non-overworld RezonantVoid skin and boy does he not disappoint
