The Great One is an incredibly powerful being that lurks within the universe. He controls a powerful army of minions known as the darkness. Manifestations of suffering and despair created from the Steves themselves. He is the source of all darkness and the darkness only answer to him. The darkness is simply an extension of his own power which he can recollect. He has the ability to infect people with his darkness and turn them into his minions, along with manipulating his surroundings and his opponents in battle. He is a shrewd, manipulative and deceptive person. He can appear to you in many different forms as he has the power to do so. Mounted on his chest is a core which doesn’t necessarily power him but allows him to control the darkness.
