Rahthea finished her meal. She smiled as a new idea popped into her head. ''Rin,'' she said, and he looked up at her. ''We've been here for a while now...'' she began, ''and I've seen plenty of other kids about your age; why don't you talk to some of them? You'd have some friends to play with once I get a job, and then you won't be as lonely in the inn.''
Rin smiled, his eyes bright, ''Friends?''
''Yes, friends!''
Rin's smile grew bigger, ''I- I want friends... let's go find some!''
Rahthea laughed, and stood up, thanking the innkeeper for the meal and paying for it. She walked back over to Rin, ''Alright, then, let's go!''

Rahthea began selling the wheat and barley they had kept in the back of their wagon for money.
It'd been a month since Rahthea and Rin left home, and there was no sign of Ara or anyone from her home town.
The sun rose over the horizon, robins and small wild birds chirped and sung in the trees that grew in and around the town, signalling the first day of summer. The two went downstairs to eat the morning meal.

finding an inn to stay at. The innkeeper greeted the two and let them know they were allowed to stay for as long as they pleased. Rahthea thanked the innkeeper, Isla, for her kind offer, and headed upstairs to the room. It wasn't anything pretty, but Rahthea was happy that Rin didn't have to sleep in the back of a wagon through the cold nights.

Over the span of a few days, Rahthea asked around the town for places to work and where markets and shops often were. A few weeks passed and

with youthful curiosity. Rahthea stopped walking, a knot forming in her stomach. She took a breath, but before she could speak Rin asked another question; ''And. . . I miss Mari and Ara...'' he looked at his feet, then back up at Rahthea.
They stood silent for a moment, before she continued walking, silently.
''I'm going to find us a nice place to stay, alright?'' she said, in an attempt to change the topic. Rin nodded and followed beside her.

Rahthea smiled as she saw little Rin sit between barrels and sacks of wheat and barley. Rin stood, in a somewhat crouching position and began walking toward the end of the wagon where Rahthea was. She held out her arms, picking Rin up and setting him on the ground beside her.

Rahthea held his hand, trying her best to make sure they wouldn't somehow be split up. Rin gazed at the town for a while, taking in details, then looked up at Rathea, ''Where's Momma and Papa?'' he wondered, his eyes big
