Background Info:
-Time: Civil War
-Perspective: Josie Ariante
-Note: This is her diary
-Note: She is a slave in Dewdrop Plantation
-Yeah there will be no Spanish word in these Story chapters from now on since I can't think of enough words
Chapter 2:
Once, I was a free black girl. Papa was alive. I was 8. Then, the heat, the flames, the fiery colors dancing in front of me. Dashing out of our tiny home, focusing on Mama, 4-year old Joan, and 3 year old June. Papa never came out. We lost our papers stating we were free blacks, so when the slave catchers came, we had nothing to show. We were taken to a plantation in Virginia and put to work. Two months later, Mama died of influenza. Sadness blurred the days. But I had to care for my sisters, do my own work, and partially fill in for Mama.My first friend was Maroska, but the slave auction ripped us apart. I was sold, thankfully with my sisters, to another Virginia plantation. Rest in comments... no more room!

... pity, luckily. Eventually, Sorano joined us, but soon left. The nest night, they came again, and that is when we exchanged stories. Carrie's eyes were blazing by the time I finished.
All for telling the truth?! She cried out.
Keep your voice down, you two shouldn't be here, Ivy warned, before commenting on my story. Wow, what a past. I lived at one plantation until I was sold here with my mother,
After that night, our friendship was a package deal. Then, one month ago, at the end of...
I met Ivy,my best friend, there, since we were the only family other than them squeezed into the tiny cabin. I also met the slave owner's daughter, Emilie, who was very kind. She was the one who taught me to read and write. A couple days later, two girls sneaked into the plantation to find their things. Ivy and I were in luck, as they quickly became our friends. Sorano was looking for a flyaway blanket, and Carrie was looking for her ball. Carrie came over and started a conversation, with no...
