Wait so basically a skin trade is when you take a skin of someones and you edit it in some way, then they pick one of YOUR skins and do the same?
Although it's more of an entire remake of the person's skin.

Skin trade-

The person you're trading with picks one of their skins to remake, as they would make it, either making changes, of reshading to their style.
Then you would pick a skin from them, and remake it in your own style too, :3 (Hope this helped XD)
